Trade Winds

They say it comes from the North-East

It comes like crushed ice packed with silica gel

It makes a man in the desert exhale frost

Students in the dormitory forego the siesta thanks to it’s false comfort.

A taste of winter in the tropics

The Antartica extending a handshake to his sister Africa

She trembles while politely entertaining her brother

His presence is cool but extremely dry

She prays for her husband the south-west to return from the sea with his moisture.

Her children are hungry because her brother has consumed her food.

Her husband will return with the rains to nourish his farm

Trade winds!

A handshake from the north
